New Terrarium for 2025

At the end of last year we decided to allow all our existing terrarium hostas have a winter break to re-invigorate them. They had been in their terrariums for 2 years and were starting to look tired. So this week we built our first new terrarium of the year. Already 1 eye has popped up …

Catch-up Jan 2025

Well we have been a bit quiet for a while here, but there has been very busy behind the scenes. Storm Daragh caused quite a bit of work for us. Our main site with the Hostas got off relatively lightly. 4 trees came down and needed clearing but by comparison little work was needed. We …

Refurbishing one of our Mugs

This is one of our hosta mugs we use in displays. They were put together 3 years ago. I refreshed and split the other 2 months ago, meant to do this one earlier. This one has hosta Lemon and Lime, a lovely little plant that, with care, we can make it iridescent gold. Quite the …

About This Site

We are a small nursery based in Somerset, although we tend to class ourselves more as a small farm. We have a plot between Milverton and Langford Budville, which was originally a cottage for Farm workers, dating back to the 18th Century last occupied in the 1960s. Unfortunately it has fallen into ruins, but since taking the property over we keep finding remnants from the previous occupiers, including a very old weak Blackcurrant bush, which we hope to revive and make cuttings from to sample the fruit.

As a philosophy we tend towards organic principals where ever possible, and have a range of helpers including our ducks which provide us with assistance in the garden and in protecting our Hostas.
